What does QILAC do?
QILAC (the QIL Arrangements Committee) are appointed by JLAM to ensure QIL's Meetings for Worship for business (and related events) run smoothly, from first planning through to follow-up.
In short, we look after the practical side of QIL gatherings so everyone can focus on the worship and the business.
What this looks like in practice
- Planning ahead – We work with the QIL Clerks to think through upcoming agendas and what they'll mean practically, and arrange any preparation needed.
- Getting ready for each meeting – We meet with the Clerks to help develop and share the agenda, papers, and arrangements, and to support publishing the minutes. We also liaise with other QIL committees about papers they want considered.
- On-the-day logistics – Room bookings, video/internet links for hybrid attendance, catering and refreshments, and recruiting Friends to help things run smoothly.
- Making meetings welcoming – We keep an eye out for ways to make meetings more inclusive and accessible for all Friends.
- Website notices – We try to make sure that the website is up to date!
- Budget – We tell the Finance Committee what QILAC needs so it can be built into QIL's overall budget.
- Fun and learning sessions – When the Clerks agree to hold one alongside a main meeting, we organise the practical side.
- Children and young people – We work with the CYP Committee so there's a suitable programme for children and young people at each main meeting.
- Learning as we go – After every main meeting we hold a short review and write up a brief report capturing what worked and what we'd do differently.
