Who are Quakers?

The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) is a radical faith group with its roots in Christianity.

We are committed to peace, equality, simplicity and integrity. and are known for work for social change, including on the abolition of the slave trade, the relief of suffering in wartime, improving living conditions for factory workers and the introduction of same-sex marriage. You can read more about our history at www.quaker.org.uk/faith/our-history.

Today, Quakers practise our “faith in action” standing in solidarity with marginalised communities and working to build a more just and peaceful world. Find out more about Quaker witness at: www.quaker.org.uk/action.
